Why The Marines Don’t Have Conqueror’s Haki – Explained

Ohaiyoooo Minaa! Today, I want to talk about Conqueror’s Haki, and those who have it. Of course, you all are aware of the concept of Conqueror’s Haki. But, some of you may not know what it is. Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered, so let me explain. Conqueror’s Haki is one of the three types of Haki in One Piece. It is present only in one in a million people, while the other types of Haki are pretty common.

It was first revealed by Shanks in the very first few episodes of One Piece, when he saved Luffy from the Coastal King. Conqueror’s Haki is a power that is based on the Willpower of someone. It gives the person the ability to intimidate someone, and then overpower them. But, that’s just the basic usage of it. So far, we’ve seen 10 people who are able to use this ability, and coincidentally, all of them are pirates.

Not even a single Marine has ever shown the ability to use Conqueror’s Haki. Not that it is a huge power up or anything. The basic form of Conqueror’s Haki just allows you to knock out some fodder, which doesn’t really matter. However, it’ll definitely have advanced stages which will be a lot more powerful. At that point, the Marines not having Conqueror’s Haki would be a huge problem.

So, are we sure the Marines can’t use it? Well, we’ve seen so many Admirals, and even Garp and Sengoku fight in One Piece. They’ve never even once displayed the usage of this power. Why exactly is that? Why did Oda choose to let only the Non-Marines have Conqueror’s Haki? Well, the answer is simple, and it has to do with being a Pirate. As we all know, Conqueror’s Haki allows one to manifest their will power, and impose it on others. However, the things is that Marines don’t have free will. They’re bound to duty, and they can’t explore, not can they Conquer. They aren’t Kings, so they just cannot have the ability of being a King. This type of Haki is not for Marines really.

This is also the reason why Garp wanted to stay a Vice Admiral in the Marines. If he would’ve been promoted, a lot of load and direct orders would’ve been dumped on to him. However, Garp needed the freedom. It is possible that he was the only Marine to have Conqueror’s Haki, but I’m not sure. Freedom, and the spirit of being a Conqueror is what makes a person special in One Piece world. The Marines have a duty, and they have to follow a set of orders, which is why they can never awaken this power, ever.
